I was already involved in photography in high school and could often be found toting around a 2¼x2¼ Graflex camera, a 3¼x4 Speed Graphic or a Kodak 828 camera.  In those days, all film available to me was black/white which meant that I could process it easily in my own small darkroom.  I was doing just that when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.

What follows are a few favorite photos.  They come in three versions, those that stand alone, those with attached poems and those that tell a story.  The photographs can be accessed either by clicking the red or green buttons or via the thumbnail list page.

There is much beauty in the world most of which has been documented in millions of photographs.  Nonetheless, I will attempt to add my bit from time to time.

The bus does not come very often

and some days not at all.

And so I sit studying my lesson

for I know not what other to do.

There is also much in the world that has been corrupted by the continuing efforts of man.   I will try to comment on some of the simpler ones that irritate me, for example trash (see below) and what I call profit architecture (will follow eventually).

Can in Stream Bed at State Park

No comments needed but I will add some anyway.  Trash has become a ubiquitous feature of virtually all landscapes throughout the world.  I see it as a disrespect for one's neighbors, a lack of an appreciation of nature and beauty in general, and an expense that surely costs our country many millions of dollars yearly for removal.  I also see the abusers as selfish, disrespectful of other's rights, and largely with a less than optimal education.
