There
are dozens of sites that I access over the year depending on the subject
of interest at the time. I will list only a few -- the first being a
medical reference that I use to check side effects of any medication to
which I am exposed.
Practical:
www.medcohealth.com:
Lots of info about almost any medicine the doctor is likely to
prescribe.
www.mapquest.com:
Maps and addresses for anywhere in the USA.
Fun/Learning:
www.howstuffworks.com:
A quick look into most anything we are likely to come across from the
home faucet to a rocket (not likely? Oh well).
www.wikipedia.com:
Information about everything. You can even add your own info under
certain conditions.
www.nationalgeographic.com:
Something for everyone. No other comments needed.
Shopping:
www.PriceGrabber.com:
Good for comparison shopping of electronics, computers, software, cameras,
etc. Also rates stores. A well-organized site.
Literature/Writing:
www.brazoswriters.org:
An organization of local writers that lists lots of useful references
related to the art of writing.
www.onelook.com:
Searches over 600 on line dictionaries for even obscure
words.
www.coolquotes.com:
A nice site with lots of quotes, many from plain guys and gals like you
and me.
Government:
www.gpoaccess,gov/
or www.gpoaccess,gov/databases.html:
A way to find anything that is going on in the Federal
Government.
www.law.cornell.edu/uscode:
An access to US laws and regulations.
Kids/Learning/Games:
www.funbrain.com:
Games to teach kids anything.
www.pbskids.org:
Learning channel plus games, etc.
www.britannica.com:
Useful for doing homework and learning about stuff.
www.tryscience.org:
A great site for kids.
