As
I look at plants such as this
I can't help but wonder what life is about.
The plant grows in a land of parched sand and rock
seemingly without a future or reason for being.
It seems that its only function in life
is to replace its kind
so that its heritage lives on.
Is
the ultimate goal of man the same?
It must have been when he first stepped out
upon the earth lacking the ability to wonder.
Surely his only goal then was to remain alive.
It seems that our goal is still much the same
and, in this sense, is little different
from
that of the desert tree. q
