According to Microsoft, a home web site should contain a short biography of the character responsible for the site.  So, who am I to argue -- especially with Microsoft no less?

Born in Yorktown, Texas a long long time ago (bet you don't know where that is and I am not going to tell you) --  grew up in San Antonio, Texas -- and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin  with a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering.  Worked for awhile in San Antonio and Austin before moving on to the Kettering Research Laboratory in Yellow Springs, Ohio.  From there to the U.S. Department of Agriculture in College Station, Texas and finally to retirement in January, 1991.

My research career has dealt almost entirely with the study of cells at the ultrastructural level using electron microscopic imaging.  The two primary areas of study were mechanisms of cellular secretion and cell toxicology.  All this led to some 300 scientific publications and reasonable world recognition.  I will include some electron microscopic images sometime down the road.

I have now, and have always had, a neat wife who is much too good and tolerant of my doings that I have never even given a thought about replacing her.  We have two boys, one in Austin, Texas (with two grandchildren) and one in Beaver Creek, Ohio (with one grandchild).  The Austin one does computer programming for a small company making software for controlling manufacturing equipment and the Beaver Creek one does composite structural engineering as for use in aircraft (he works at Wright Patterson Air force Base).

Pork barreling in government is an accepted, perhaps even legitimate, way of bribing voters.
