As I See It

The title apply describes this page. It is a conglomerate of opinions on whatever subject happens to be passing through my mind (?) at the time. Might as well start by picking a fight. Have fun.
Evolution: All one has to do is look (unbiased) at the evidence: (a) Evolution for all creatures on earth (including us) is a fact of life and is supported by thousands of valid scientific experiments. (b) Au contraire, there is no valid scientific evidence that supports creationism.
Thus, one has to conclude that (a) we are
all decendents of many early forms of life, even down to the earliest single
cell creatures that roamed the primordial soup. (b) The earliest of
these creatures that bore our form (i.e., our earliest immediate ancestors),
came from Africa. (c) Genetic evidence suggests that the oldest humans on
earth are the Bushmen of Africa and that it is likely that all current humans
were derived from them. (d) Thus, we are "black" underneath our various
colored skins. (e) I also find it interesting that we are (genetically
speaking) 95% the same as a chimpanzee, a fact I can readily accept just by looking at how
many of us behave.
Religion in schools: As I see it, it is not so much a problem of whether religion should be in schools (or government) as it is whose religion it should be. That is, is the religion going to be yours or mine. My concern is that most religions are neither negotiable nor amenable to compromise and your religion might force me to do something that I feel is not right. I suppose you would feel the same about how my religion might affect you. Therefore, I feel that it is better to have no religion in schools (or government) rather than the wrong religion (that is, a religion other than mine). Religion as a power base: Religion is one of the easiest ways to establish a power base for the control of people -- and is being used here and throughout the world for that purpose. Abortion: I find it hard to reconcile abortion as a sin while letting thousands of people (including children) die of starvation, lack of medical help, and lack of adequate housing. Note: The latter is murder because we do little to stop it. Apparently some sins are OK whereas others are not.
